Over the last few weeks Room 2 has been studying Puanga, Matariki, stars, constellations and planets. We are making a Puanga booklet with lots of information in them about Māori stars and constellations.
Māori new year is a time for celebrating, remembering, learning and setting goals. In the old days Māori people used the stars as maps and calendars. I am enjoying learning about Māori New Year and the Māori stars.

Ripppa Rugby! By Renee
At lunch time, everybody that wanted to play rippa rugby, played a game of rippa rugby. I was captain of the blue team, I picked all the girls to be on my team, so the teams ended up being girls vs. boys. Some of the boys got quite competitive and started cheating I think. I scored lots of tries and everybody in my team played really well, considering most of my team had never played rippa rugby before. It was a very fun game and since we never knew who won I think we will have to have another game!
