Hiroshima Day by Renee
Yesterday Room 2 learnt about Hiroshima day. We watched a video on YouTube and then had a discussion about it. I learnt that Hiroshima day is when the Americans bombed Hiroshima in Japan because they wanted to get revenge on Japan for bombing Pearl Harbour, a military base in Hawaii, when America wasn't even part of the war.
The bomb that they used was new and hadn't been used before, so they were testing it out. I think that the two pilots that were flying the plane that was going to drop the bomb into the city were really brave because they didn't now if it would blow up the plane or the plane would burst into flames and they would die. The bomb had heaps of radiation in it and killed thousands of innocent people in the city. I think the American's revenge was a bit harsh and that they should have bombed a military base like Japan did.
I think this was very unsuccessful and do not agree with what the Americans did.

Flight! by Renee
Today Room 2 went to the museum to learn about flight. We looked at birds and a few bugs. The best part for me was looking at the bones of the birds. I also found it very interesting looking at the feathers of the birds and their wings!!!
After we had looked at all the birds and completed our tasks we went up stairs to look at the bug room. I saw lots of interesting bugs but the best thing in the bug room was all the butterflies. I had a go at drawing a few of them and I also drew an evil bumble bee. I think the trip to the museum was very exciting and fun!

The Sound of Autumn by Renee
Out in the playground I hear the birds chirp. I feel the sharp bark dig into my flesh, "Ouch".
As I slowly walk through the green grass I hear the grass swish and whish. The grass tickles my feet as I walk through it .
'Crunch, crunch, rustle, rustle', I hear as I run through the red and golden leaves.
Along the uneven, grey path I hear children squealing and my feet tap on the concrete path. I see the trees swaying from side to side in the wind.
'Crack', I hear the rust brown bark cracking as I skip through the playground. Up above me I see the huge, green leaves and big brown branches.
I feel relaxed , I quite like the peaceful sounds of Autumn.

Describing my shoe By Renee
It has a grayish logo with pink around the outside. My shoe sometimes gets dirty or scuffed but most of the time tries to keep clean.
My shoe can be quite shy at first but then gets more confident and louder. My shoe mainly skips around quietly but if in a very bad mood can stomp noisily.

House Competition!!! By Renee
On the last day of term 2 we had a house competition. It was a singing competition, you could also make up moves and dances to go with the song.
Miro sang "Hey Baby"
Kowhai sang "We will rock you"
Tawa sang "The Time Warp "
It was heaps of fun and I enjoyed my house Tawa winning! I also think the other houses did a great job as well.
